What types of companies can be registered?

How many directors are allowed in a Company?
The board of a private company must comprise of at least one director. The board of a public or non-profit company must comprise of at least three directors.
Can foreigners register a Company in South Africa?
Yes, as long as the person registering the new company has a valid passport.
How long does it take to register a Company?
A Name Reservation takes between 2-3 days. A Company certificate can be registered within 2-3 days afterward, depending on whether you have submitted your documents on time, and the workload of the registrar’s office.

What is VAT?
Value-Added Tax, commonly known as VAT, is a consumption tax added to a product or service at every point on the supply chain where value is added.
Revenue is raised for government by requiring certain businesses to register and to charge VAT on the taxable supplies of goods and services. These businesses become vendors that act as the agent for government in collecting the VAT.
Who should register for VAT?
Voluntary Registration: Any business who’s turnover, in the past period of twelve months, exceeded R50 000, can voluntarily register for a VAT.
Mandatory Registration: Any business who’s turnover, in the past period of twelve months, exceeds R 1 million.
How long does it take to get a VAT number?
